Arts of Haiti, a service of the Arts of Haiti Research Project™, provides a sales point for several artists working
in and near Cap Haitien. These artists generally began with traditions
first explored and developed by the renowned Philomé Obin, but each
of them has moved along distinctive paths to create lively, often complex
expressions concerning life in the northern part of Haiti today. “Today” for
these painters includes a vivid sense of the history of Haiti, the First
Black Republic. Arts of Haiti enables the artists to sell their work, and then
a portion of the total directly benefits the community school, Lekol
Lamitye/L’École
L’Amitie.
